Hey everyone!
I watch a lot of YouTube videos so I thought it would be a good idea to share one that always gives me a chuckle whenever I re-watch it. This YouTube video, broadcasted on Jimmy Kimmel Live, is about kids being asked what they think gay marriage is about. It was released shortly after the Supreme Court ruled out gay marriage bans in all states of the U.S.
This video brings out a light-hearted side on the heavily concerned issue. While there are many people out there arguing over the legalization of gay marriage, we have kids who lighten up on these concerns. Young children often provide answers on what they truly believe without being concerned by what others may think of it. My favourite response of this YouTube video (provided below) is at 1:59 minute to the video. Its humorous and upfront responses from young children make these types of videos enjoyable to watch. It is also what makes online videos of young children go viral because it is a break from negativity that we often hear on the news.

Hey Julia!
ReplyDeleteI really love the video you shared and also Jimmy Kimmel's way at looking at the subject. He always makes any situation very humorous, but by using kids as the target for this video he is able to exemplify the 'light-hearted' side of this heavy topic. Like you said, also by using children in these videos it could be seen as a break from negativity in the news and I completely agree with that point. Adult discussion around gay marriage commonly takes a very strong and radical approach, but replacing adult media coverage with children simply defining gay marriage, it lessens the negativity and brings out the simplicity in the topic.
